Approximately 40-50 pedestrians are killed in traffic accidents each year.

If you hit a pedestrian or another unprotected road user with your car, your speed is absolutely decisive in the consequences for the accident victim. If the collision takes place at 30 km/h, the risk of the road user being killed is 10%. If the collision takes place at 50 km/h, however, the risk increases to 80%.

Almost half of all traffic accidents involving pedestrians occur in the dark and almost half of all fatal accidents involving pedestrians occur during the period November-January. December is the single most dangerous month for pedestrians.
