About 15,000-20,000 car journeys per day are made by drivers under the influence of alcohol
Alcohol combined with driving greatly increases the risk of accidents. A driver with a blood alcohol level of 0.5-1.0 per mille is about 13 times more likely to be involved in a traffic accident than a sober driver. At a blood alcohol level of 1.0-1.5 per mille, the risk of being involved in an accident is 100 times greater.
